March 7 News Letter

                                                                        March 7, 2017

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

March has been a fairly slow month so far, but it will pick up greatly after spring break. Speaking of spring break, it will be next week, March 13-17. Classes will resume on Monday, March 20.

While this is not an event coming up at school, I do have concerns about our afternoon pick up. At the first of the year, we issued pick up passes for everybody that wanted one. We gave up to three per family and even more if it was requested. You would not believe how much better this system makes everyone feel than what we had before. In the past month or so, we have had a few parents not have their passes with them. Not a lot, but a few more than we had earlier in the year. I ask that you please be sure that you have your yellow pass in your car when you come to pick up your child. If you need another one or even two more, let us know and we will make them for you.

Book Fair will begin on March 20 and run through March 30. Book Fair is a way that our library makes money to purchase new books. Books and other items are sold at a reasonable price to our students.

Ms. Price will begin her after school running classes on Wednesday, March 22. You must be signed up for these classes in order to attend. If your child wants to participate, he or she must have the permission slip back before March 22. Ms. Price will be greatly appreciative if all parents would be here no later than 4:30 to pick up their children.

Report cards will go home on Friday, March 24. Pictures will also be made that day. You will be receiving more information about pictures within the next few weeks.

Some of you will be receiving a letter from the school letting you know that your child is being considered for retention in his or her current grade. Please read this letter carefully if your receive one. It does not mean that your child is going to be retained, but it does mean that it is a possibility. We will be having parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, March 28 from 3:15-6:15. Everyone is welcome at these conferences, but if you receive a possible retention letter, it is vital that you attend.

From spring break on, things will get fairly hectic here at school with many events planned throughout the spring. We will do our best to keep you informed of all of the events taking place at school. As usual, if you have any questions or concerns about anything happening at school or your child’s academic progress, do not hesitate to call, text, or e-mail. I hope everybody has a wonderful spring break.

                                                                        Respectfully,

                                                                        Barry D. Bellamy
