I started my career as a Math teacher and coach at Rogersville Middle School in 1987. After teaching and coaching for 8 years, I spent the next 4 years (1995 -1999) as Assistant Principal of the school. I became the Principal at Surgoinsville Elementary in 1999 and stayed there for five years until the spring of 2004. In the spring of that year, Ms. Welch announced her retirement as the principal of Hawkins Elementary and I was fortunate to have been selected as her successor. I have been here ever since.
When not working, I enjoy cycling, fishing, and reading. My wife, Shannon, is employed at Holston Electric. Our only child, Abigail, is employed as a teacher at Surgoinsville Elementary.
Serving as the principal of Hawkins Elementary has been the highlight of my career. I love this school and all of the great people that work here. While my days at HES are numbered, I still consider myself lucky to be able to come to work at such a great place.
