Hawkins Elementary Library's mission is:

to support the curriculum and state standards by providing resources, materials and instruction
to encourage and promote reading for both enjoyment & information for all patrons (students, teachers, staff & parents)
to assist students in becoming skillful, critical researchers who evaluate and apply the information they gather having used both electronic and print sources
to "ensure that students...are effective users of ideas and information" (Information Power: Building Partnerships for Learning, 1998)
