Mrs. Sizemore and Mr. Drinnon's class celebrated Star Wars day! They made light sabers using fractions and designed their own droids by using geometric shapes. Fun and learning was shown by all! May the 4th be with you!

Hawkins County Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) applications open soon! VPK helps students build the social and emotional skills needed to succeed in Kindergarten and beyond.

Another assembly, another chance to celebrate our incredible Bearcats! Mrs. McNutt’s 3rd grade class held onto the School Spirit Stick for yet another month by earning the highest attendance in the entire school. Even more exciting, the entire 3rd grade cohort achieved the best attendance for April and will enjoy a special field trip to watch A Diary of a Wimpy Kid at SMS—great job! Our Students of the Month were also honored and treated to a special visit to the book vending machine. Students who received positive office referrals were recognized as well, and their families will be notified of the many ways these students help make HES a better place. Mrs. Gladson and Mrs. Tara selected grade-level winners who showed growth on their recent AimsWeb testing. These students were rewarded with a NeeDoh or a Dumpling for their dedication and effort. And finally, our reading rockstars were celebrated! These students read 3 or 6 books to reach pearl or silver level status—an amazing accomplishment!

Bus 5 will not be running AM or PM routes on Monday, May 4th. Students who ride this bus will need to be car riders to and from school.

Tomorrow is our reward day in celebration of being recognized as a Level 5 school! Students are welcome to bring money if they’d like to buy items from the snack cart. Also tomorrow evening from 4-6, HES will be hosting their second annual Spring Fling! Join us for a night of fun, games, and concessions!

Our Bearcats enjoyed having CTE on Wheels on campus. We appreciate Mr. Brewer and the CHS Chiefs for making this such a great experience!

Archie, the district therapy dog, paid a visit to our 3rd grade classrooms. He wanted to wish our Bearcats good luck on the TCAPs. 🥰🐶🐾

Celebrate the good times—come on!! 🥳 Yesterday, we held our monthly assembly and had a wonderful time celebrating our amazing staff and students! Mrs. McNutt’s 3rd grade class took home the attendance trophy for having the best attendance in March—way to go! Along with our attendance winners, we recognized our Students of the Month, Positive Office Referrals, and Reading Rockstars. A big congratulations to Miss Brittney for being named the Newest Bearcat Teacher of the Year! 🐻🎉
